Tyree Wilson made a handful of plays against the San Francisco 49ers that he has never made his entire NFL career originally appeared on A to Z Sports.
We all know how big of a year this is for Tyree Wilson, the Las Vegas Raiders’ former No. 7 overall pick a few years ago. This, in many ways, can be a make it or break it season.

Sure, he still has the season after this one under contract, but this one will really start to show how much money he could be worth when that second contract comes. If we are basing anything off of his first two seasons, which we really shouldn’t do, Wilson may not end up making it back to the Raiders after his rookie contract is up.
Now, Wilson has gotten better over the last two years. You can definitely see the progress he’s made with some of the technical things like his stance, his pass rush moves, and his get off.
In fact, we started seeing some of those on Saturday in the Raiders’ preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. He made a few plays that he has never really made in his NFL career.

Tyree Wilson made a few great plays vs. 49ers in preseason
Yes, I know, it’s the preseason, so we should take everything with a grain of salt. But this was the 49ers’ starters against the Raiders’ starters. This was Tyree Wilson against other guys who have played in the league for a bit, or have at least started some games.
Yet, Wilson looked great. We all saw the play where he bull rushed an offensive lineman into quarterback Brock Purdy to create pressure and actually hit Purdy, forcing the 49ers to have to take a field goal in the red zone. It was a huge play, and it was mostly all because of Wilson.

There is also the fact that Wilson was playing inside on that snap as a three technique, where he’s primarily an edge rusher. Since it’s an obvious passing down, they can move him inside and let him just punish the smaller guard. And, it worked.

Wilson also had a play where he disrupted a zone run scheme by knocking George Kittle off his blocking path, and then another pancake on a tight end where he pretty much threw him into the air. If I can recall correctly, that’s the first time he’s ever had three plays like that, and that’s definitely the first time he’s had all three plays in the same game.
Wilson is getting better – the proof is right in our face.
