The Arizona Diamondbacks finish off their homestand with a Sunday, Sept. 7, series finale against the Boston Red Sox. Right-hander Ryne Nelson will face Boston’s Brayan Bello.
Then, it’s off to the airport for the team’s second-to-last road trip, beginning Sept. 8, in San Francisco, where the Diamondbacks play three games against the Giants at Oracle Park.
The Giants are among the teams the Diamondbacks are fighting to move up in the National League wild-card standings.
The Diamondbacks are 4-3 against the Giants this season, with six games yet to play against San Francisco this month.
Two hitters to watch for the Giants are Heliot Ramos and Willy Adames, the latter of whom was the team leader in home runs, runs batted in and strikeouts as of Sept. 3.
Rafael Devers has also been on a tear. He was the co-National League Player of the Week for the last week of August with a .478 batting average, three home runs, 10 RBIs, two doubles, four walks, nine runs scored, a .957 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage in six games.
After leaving the Bay Area, the Diamondbacks have a day off before making their lone visit to the Twin Cities to play the Minnesota Twins Sept. 12-14.
Minnesota is well out of the American League wild-card race and is led by star outfielder Byron Buxton. The Twins are 19-11 all-time against the Diamondbacks and have won five of the past six meetings.
