Diamondbacks LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (8-8, 4.98) vs. Giants TBA
At Chase Field: Rodriguez has found a groove at the right time, when the Diamondbacks need wins the most. In his past three starts, he is 3-0 with a 0.49 earned run average (one earned run in 18 ⅓ innings pitched). Opponents are batting .161 against him in that stretch, and he has 14 strikeouts and eight walks. Rodriguez has made four career starts, two of which have lasted at least six innings. He threw 6 ⅓ scoreless innings with six strikeouts in the Diamondbacks’ 5-3 win at San Francisco in his last start on Sept. 10. … The Giants had yet to name a starter for Tuesday, Sept. 16, searching for answers at the back end of their bullpen. The uncertainty of the situation comes at a time when the Giants are right in the thick of the NL wild-card race with the Diamondbacks, and manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday’s starter would depend on what kind of length they can get from Monday’s starter, RHP Kai-Wei Teng.
