The 2025 Laver Cup is coming to a head with the esteemed event offering a staggering amount of money for those competing. The tournament is a three-day team event, where six men’s players from Europe face-off against six stars from the rest of the world. In a twist, the venue for the tournament shifts every year, meaning this year’s is being held at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California
Team Europe are currently in a battle to defend the title they won last year in Berlin. Team World had led 11-7 going into the penultimate match in 2024, but wins for Alexander Zverev and 2025 US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, who beat Taylor Fritz in a decisive match, saw Europe clinch the title. That result means Europe currently leads the all-time Laver Cup series 5-2. With the eighth edition of the competition currently underway, here is a closer look at the prize money that’s on offer and who is in with a shout to win it.
Laver Cup prize money
Every player featuring in the Laver Cup receives an appearance fee. However, how much hinges on what their official ATP Ranking was after the end of this year’s French Open. Alcaraz, who was ranked second after Roland Garros, will receive the highest appearance fee.
Fritz will receive the second-highest appearance fee. There is also a major incentive for the triumphant side with each victor earning a whopping £184,000. In even greater motivation to carve your name into history, there will be no extra prize money for the losing team.
Laver Cup rules
The famous competition consists of five sessions played over a three day period. There are three singles matches on both Friday and Saturday, with each day concluded by a doubles tie.
Sunday begins with a doubles match and is followed by up to three singles matches, depending on whether a team has reached the required points tally to claim victory.
Matches on the opening day are worth one point each, while two points can be won on day two. The third day matches are worth three points.
The first team to win 13 points, out of a total of 24, claims the trophy. If scores are tied after 12 matches, the winner is determined via a final doubles contest.

Laver Cup teams
This year, Team Europe is under new rule. Yannick Noah and Tim Henman are overseeing the side that’s being led by world No. 1 Alcaraz. World No. 3 Zverev is making his sixth event appearance, while Laver Cup veteran Casper Ruud, Flavio Cobolli, Jakub Mensik and Holger Rune make up the team representing the defending champions.
Team World also has new blood in the captain stakes with tennis icon Andre Agassi and vice captain Pat Rafter stepping for 2025. Team World were forced to navigate a rocky start after Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, and Frances Tiafoe all withdrew from the event.
However, they now boast a side that features Fritz, world No. 8 Alex de Minaur, Reilly Opelka, Alex Michelsen, Francisco Cerundolo and teen sensation Joao Fonseca, who is making his event debut.
