For the last three seasons, Bruce Bochy was the manager of the Texas Rangers. This organization has decided not to renew his contract after his contract expired, and he is free to manage elsewhere for the 2026 MLB season and beyond.

Not only will Texas need a new manager, but the San Francisco Giants and the Minnesota Twins will also be looking for new managers as well. Bochy has managed with the Giants from 2007-2019. What are the odds that he potentially goes back to the Bay Area for the 2026 season?

Bruce Bochy Doesn’t Rule Out a Reunion

With San Francisco firing Bob Melvin as manager on Monday, they are looking for someone to lead them back to the playoffs. The former Rangers manager could potentially be the next manager for the Giants. He spoke to John Shea of The San Francisco Standard on Monday. Bochy said he,

“Would always have a conversation with [president of baseball operations] Buster [Posey].”

There is a chance that he could reunite with Posey in San Francisco. However, Bochy is exploring all of his options at the moment. Posey was a player under him when they won three World Series titles together in 2010, 2012, and 2014. It would make sense for the Giants to bring him back as long as they have a succession plan.

With Bochy being 70 years old, they could bring him around for a couple of seasons to get them back to the playoffs. Posey does not care about if the manager is an older person or not. He wants experience. This is a major why a reunion is very possible. There will be some other teams that will express interest in him. If he does not want to manager, Bochy would either retire or potentially take a front office role with the Rangers.
