Tensions appear to be boiling over between San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings and coach Kyle Shanahan.
Jennings and Shanahan got into a spat on the sidelines just before halftime of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group suggested that the discussion lasted several minutes, and even interfered with Shanahan’s playcalling during a two-minute drill.

Kyle and Jennings still going at it. Kyle covers his mouth with playcard while Shanahan’s security detail Mike Anderson keeps Jennings away.

After the game, Jennings’ only comment on the incident was to throw shade at Shanahan and seemingly pin the incident on his coach.
Jauan Jennings said “ask him” about his sideline arguments with Shanahan. Also, said he is playing with 5 broken ribs.

Shanahan simply chalked things up to an “intense, competitive conversation.”
Jennings was only targeted three times in the 49ers’ 30-19 loss, making one catch for seven yards. He has had a very quiet season outside of his Week 2 showing in which he caught five passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.
It should be noted that Jennings wanted a new contract during the offseason. The 49ers eventually added $3 million in incentives to his current deal as a compromise.
The 49ers are still in a fine place at 4-2, but injuries are piling up and there seems to be some tension behind the scenes. Their Week 7 game is at home against the Atlanta Falcons, a contest they will be expected to win.
