The San Francisco 49ers have two distinct needs to address before the NFL trade deadline passes on Nov. 4.

The Niners have lost both linebacker Fred Warner and edge rusher Nick Bosa for the rest of the season, and now fellow edge rusher Bryce Huff is dealing with an injury, which is more bad news for a 49ers defense that has just nine sacks.
It goes without saying general manager John Lynch needs to make some a move or moves to help one of both spots with the Niners sitting at 5-2.
One team that would be a good one to call is the New Orleans Saints, who could move edge rusher Cam Jordan and/or linebacker Demario Davis, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports:
Sources could see the Saints moving on from edge Cam Jordan and/or linebacker Demario Davis. If they are dealt, New Orleans will try to find a contending team where they can land. The 49ers make sense for either one of those players.
With the Saints sitting at 1-6 and in desperate need of a rebuild, they absolutely should consider trading both Davis and Jordan to pick up some draft capital.

Both players are 36 years old, so they don’t figure to be in the team’s long-term plans, and they are in the final year of their respective contracts, so they could leave for nothing next year.
Davis is still playing at a high level despite his advanced age.
He was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro as recently as 2023 and is up to 61 tackles in seven games, which ranks tied for eighth in the NFL. He also brings strong coverage and elite run defense skills.
Jordan isn’t the same elite edge rusher he once was, but he does have 2.5 sacks and 16 pressures. The former mark would rank second on San Francisco’s defense (Bosa currently ranks second and hasn’t played in four weeks).

Granted, neither player would replace Bosa and Warner, but both should be cost effective and would still amount to upgrades on San Fran’s battered defense.
