Potential Giants three-team trade sees San Francisco acquire $13 million star pitcher to replace Justin Verlander originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The San Francisco Giants had a mediocre season this year, going exactly 81-81. Now, they need to make some changes in order to be contenders again.

Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller believes the first change they need to make is getting another starting pitcher behind Logan Webb and Robbie Ray, with Justin Verlander entering free agency. Miller believes they should make a three-team trade to grab Cincinnati Reds star pitcher Brady Singer.

The trade would look like this:

San Francisco Giants get: RHP Brady Singer (from CIN) and RHP Janson Junk (from MIA)

Cincinnati Reds get: OF Heliot Ramos (from SFG)

Miami Marlins get: SS Edwin Arroyo (from CIN)

“Starting up top, the Giants need starting pitching beyond Logan Webb and Robbie Ray, and trading for that solution is probably the path of least resistance for a team that already has six players with a luxury-tax payroll hit of at least $18 million apiece…Brady Singer had a solid 2025 campaign with the Reds, but he’s probably going to cost around $12 million or $13 million in his final year of arbitration eligibility, which is a lot for Cincinnati to pay what is probably its fourth-best starter. If they can turn that package into an outfielder with pop, they might do it,” Miller wrote.

This past season, Singer posted a 14-12 record, a 4.03 ERA, 163 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.238 over 169 innings pitched. He would be a good third man in the rotation, especially if he can bring his ERA and WHIP down.

Losing Ramos would hurt, but the Giants still have Jung Hoo Lee, Luis Matos, and Drew Gilbert. Hopefully, the Giants at least get on the phones with these teams to see if they can make anything happen.
