The San Francisco 49ers have started their 2025 campaign with a 5-3 record, putting them in third place in the NFC West as they reach the middle of the season.
San Francisco’s record is impressive, considering quarterback Brock Purdy has missed six games due to injury, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has yet to return from PUP, left guard Ben Bartch has missed six games, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has missed four games, defensive end Nick Bosa tore his ACL and linebacker Fred Warner suffered a season-ending ankle injury.

The 49ers’ success through the first half of the year can be attributed to several factors, including the play of some of their best players, three of which have been some of the best that the league has to offer this year.
On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame projected fullback Kyle Juszczyk for the first team and running back Christian McCaffrey and left tackle Trent Williams for the second team.
Here’s what Verderame had to say about the trio:
Kyle Juszczyk
“Juszczyk has been a versatile player over the past nine years in San Francisco, earning nine Pro Bowl berths and two All-Pro honors. It’s a good bet he’ll get a third this week.”

Christian McCaffrey
“Meanwhile, McCaffrey has been fantastic for the 49ers. The 2023 Offensive Player of the Year might win the award again, ranking 13th in rushing yards (490) and eighth in receiving yards (559).”
Verderame predicted that Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor will make it over McCaffrey.
Trent Williams
“Williams is a four-time All-Pro and the 37-year-old continues to play at a high level. He’s only allowed six quarterback hits all year.”
Verderame has Williams finishing behind Denver Broncos left tackle Garrett Bolles, who takes home the first-team finish.
