SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A2O May wants next.
The five-member girl group from China is looking to make it big here in the United States. In less than a year since their debut, Kat, Chenyu, Shijie, Miche and Quchang have already enjoyed success.
A2O May became the first Chinese group to enter the U.S. Top 40 Radio Chart with its debut single “Under My Skin,” according to a press release. “B.B.B (Bigger Badder Better)” is their most-watch music video with nearly 50 million YouTube views.
Fresh off the release of its debut EP, A2O May recently embarked its first media tour in the country, stopping by New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The music video for its latest single “PAPARAZZI ARRIVE” already has nearly 40 million views since being posted less than two weeks ago.

This is where Blackpink ate during its tour stop in San Francisco
The quintet from China looks to join the party during this recent wave of girl groups from Asia. Most notably, South Korea-based girl groups like BLACKPINK and TWICE have dominated the charts for years — at the forefront of the already massively popular K-pop genre.
However, similar acts from other Asian countries are already making waves in this part of the world.
The Philippines’ BINI performed in the Bay Area over the summer during its world tour; they are now set to perform at Coachella next spring. Japanese girl group XG is on that list too, having performed at the world-renown music festival earlier this year.
A2O May looks to be the next group to break out in the United States and North America. They said those groups inspire them to strive for oversees success.
“I really appreciate and respect every artist in this industry. Seeing artists from all over the world being able to shine, that’s literally the best thing ever,” Miche said.
A2O May is signed by A2O Entertainment, which is founded by K-pop pioneer Soo Man LEE, the founder of SM Entertainment. They are the first group to debut under the label.
The girls discuss its rise, their concept of “Zalpha Pop” and plans to break through in North America.
