About Brunch Masters

We mobilize the economic power of the Black community to support our businesses and enrich our people through kinship, good food and good times.

Through culinary showcases and mentorship, the program supports emerging chefs in building sustainable careers and culminates in the Brunch Masters Showcase, where one chef is crowned the Brunch Master of the Year.
About Big Black Brunch
Big Black Brunch, founded in 2018 by San Francisco native Bivett Brackett, aims to strengthen community and Black economic power through curated brunch experiences. We partner with BIPOC-owned businesses to showcase diverse cuisines – from Southern American comfort food to rich Nigerian flavors – while creating spaces that celebrate Black culture and promote economic circulation within the Bay Area’s Black community. By connecting BIPOC-owned restaurants, chefs, wineries and vendors with patrons, we foster community-focused events that support local businesses.
The COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted small businesses, with Black-owned establishments among the hardest hit. Many saw significant revenue losses, and some permanently closed. Once public health guidelines allowed, Big Black Brunch innovated to help over 150 businesses throughout the Bay Area recover, organizing events like night markets, block parties, health and wellness hikes and park activations to drive customers back to BIPOC owned establishments.
