Robert Saleh was sacked by the New York Jets, and while all eyes are on the Aaron Glenn era, it’s not over for the former head coach in the NFL.
Over the past few days while the dust settled on the hirings of Glenn as coach and Darry Mougey as general manager in New York, Saleh has returned home… in a sense.
Saleh, 45, was hired by the Jets from his past post as the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers.
Saleh has headed back to the Bay Area.
The 49ers announced recently that Saleh has been signed back on as their defensive coordinator:

The Niners were in search of a new defensive coordinator after firing Nick Sorensen. While making that change, the one at the top remained.
Kyle Shanahan is still the head coach in San Francisco.
It makes plenty of sense that Saleh ended up back with the 49ers considering he held that same DC role on Shanahan’s staff prior to his time in New York. Many speculated that would be the outcome as well.
Saleh, who was hired in 2021 and had a 20-36 overall record with the Jets. He fired him in October.
