Pete Rose, the MLB all-time hits leader, died on September 30, 2024. He was 83. The sad news of Rose’s passing ends the decades-old story of one of baseball’s greats not in the Hall of Fame — a result of Charlie Hustle’s gambling on the game while playing.
Unless the Era Committee somehow interjects, Rose will forever hold the distinction of being atop the all-time hits list for players not in Cooperstown.
