The San Francisco 49ers have experienced a lot of turnover this offseason, losing nine starters from last year’s roster. They’ve even swapped defensive coordinators, re-hiring former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh as their new defensive play-caller.

Despite all those personnel changes, more are coming to San Francisco this offseason.

While the bulk of the free agency decisions have already been made, the 2025 NFL Draft will bring another talent influx.

San Francisco starts with the 12th overall pick in the first round of the draft, and they boast 11 total selections in April’s three-day selection process. That gives 49ers general manager John Lynch plenty of ammo to work with.

Recently, Bleacher Report’s NFL analyst Moe Moton advised the 49ers to draft another running back to help replace Jordan Mason, who was traded to the Minnesota Vikings earlier this month.

“Kyle Shanahan won’t admit this publicly, but Kaleb Johnson is the dream pick that the team needs to make happen on Day 2 of the draft.”

The 49ers possess the 43rd overall pick, or the 11th selection in the second round, which could be a prime location to land Johnson, who tallied 1,537 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns in his final season at the University of Iowa.

Isaac Guerendo is set to be CMC’s backup for now, but if last season was any indication, San Francisco may need to rely on more than just two tailbacks in 2025. Plus, they’ll eventually want to find a potential long-term fill-in for Christian McCaffrey, who played just four games last season while fighting injuries.
