Another Texas Longhorn is headed to the NFL.
Defensive tackle Alfred Collins was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 43rd overall pick in the NFL draft.
Collins put it all together for the Longhorns in 2024, blossoming into a second-team All-American and first-team All-SEC defensive lineman in his fifth season in Austin. He was honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2023.

The Bastrop native played in 64 games and made 27 starts during his time with Texas. In 16 games as a fifth-year senior, he tallied 55 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, seven passes defended and one forced fumble. Collins finished his college career with seven sacks.

Measured at 6-6 and 332 pounds with an 85-inch wingspan, Collins is a physically imposing prospect who could be an impact run defender on the interior of an NFL team’s defensive line.
Collins is the first Longhorn taken in the second round after three were taken in the first. Tackle Kelvin Banks, cornerback Jahdae Barron and wide receiver Matthew Golden were all selected on Thursday.
