Former Falcons tight end Ross Dwelley won’t be returning to Atlanta in 2025. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dwelley has signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. The 30-year-old spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the 49ers before signing with the Falcons in free agency last offseason.

Dwelley appeared in all 17 games for Atlanta, recording one catch for five receiving yards. He only played roughly 10 percent of the team’s offensive snaps while contributing on special teams. Dwelley’s best season came in 2020 when he recorded 19 catches for 245 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The Falcons went in a different direction at tight end, signing Feleipe Franks and Teagan Quitoriano in free agency.

Kyle Pitts and Charlie Woerner will be back in 2025. Pitts is entering the final year of his contract and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson is expecting big things from the former No. 4 overall pick.

“I’m expecting Kyle to take a big jump,” said Robinson. “You know, Year 2 two of the system. Year 2 of understanding what we’re trying to do offensively.”

Woerner, another former 49ers tight end, was a valuable blocker for Atlanta last season. Both players will have key roles on what should be an explosive Falcons offense this season.
