San Francisco Supervisor Bilal Mahmood announced that Hayes Valley will become an entertainment zone which will allow restaurants and bars to sell alcohol to go and people can consume them in the area when there’s a special event. He says this will help small businesses thrive. He plans to ask the city to conduct a study to see what else can be done to help merchants and look at the impact of turning the 400 block of Hayes Street into a car-free zone seven days a week.
