The San Francisco 49ers have had to rely on undrafted running backs quite a bit in the last few years, including Matt Breida (2018), Raheem Mostert (2019), Jeff Wilson (2020) and Jordan Mason (2024).
In 2025, San Francisco added another rookie running back after the seven rounds of the NFL draft came and went, who is hoping to add his name to that list.

Corey Kiner, 23, was a four-star prospect out of Roger Bacon High School in St. Bernard, Ohio, before committing to LSU for their 2021 season. After rushing for 320 yards and two touchdowns on 4.1 yards per attempt with the Tigers, he transferred to Cincinnati for his final three seasons.
Kiner appeared in 34 games with the Bearcats from 2022-24, rushing for 2,562 yards and 14 touchdowns on 5.4 yards per attempt and catching 30 passes for an additional 162 yards.
Now that he’s made it to the NFL, he’s taken time to learned about the undrafted backs that came before him.
“I’ve been doing a lot of research on those guys and coach Bobby T. (Turner) shows us a lot of their film,” Kiner said (via the San Francisco Chronicle’s Eric Branch). “And he lets me know every day: Just because you weren’t drafted and you didn’t hear your name called doesn’t mean you can’t do something special with your opportunity.”

The 5-foot-9, 209-pound running back hasn’t been in the league long, but he appreciates the attitude that Turner, his position coach, comes to work with and expects out of his guys.
“A lot of people have problems and (Turner) doesn’t care about the problems,” Kiner said. “His thing is to get up and go to work every day. Sometimes you need that. I feel like today, you can get caught up in ‘I’m not feeling good. I deserve this. I deserve that.’ Coach Bobby T.’s approach to everything is ‘I don’t care what I deserve.’ I’m going to get up and go to work every day.”
At 76 years old, Turner is the oldest position coach in the NFL, and with that comes a ton of experience, which, in Kiner’s opinion, puts him above everyone else.
“Coach Bobby T. is the best in the business,” Kiner said. “And I like to think of myself as the best. I want to be coached by the best.”
